> TuneBoi after its retirement, what Tulip 1.0 owners should do, and Canto 0.10.3 alongside the Canto 1.0 beta.

Applies to TuneBoi 1.0.0, Tulip 1.0 and Canto 0.10.3 · Updated Oct 10, 2026 · https://lonelyduck.io/docs/older-apps

Some LonelyDuck apps have a newer version, or a successor. This page says what happens to the older ones and what to do if you use them.

## TuneBoi

TuneBoi was retired in 2026. Tulip is its successor, built from what TuneBoi learned.

* **It's no longer sold or updated.**
* **Your license keeps working**, and the app keeps running on your Mac.
* **The last version, TuneBoi 1.0.0, stays downloadable** for owners at [lonelyduck.io/tuneboi](https://lonelyduck.io/tuneboi).
* **Support still answers**: [support@lonelyduck.io](mailto:support@lonelyduck.io).

### Owner's notes

TuneBoi cleans up a music library: duplicates, missing lyrics and album covers.

1. **Install.** Download TuneBoi from [lonelyduck.io/tuneboi](https://lonelyduck.io/tuneboi), open it, and choose your Apple Music library or music folder.
2. **Activate.** Copy the license key from your purchase email and enter it in TuneBoi.
3. **Remove duplicates.** Run a duplicate scan, review the results, then apply changes in batches.
4. **Find lyrics.** Search for missing lyrics, preview them, and save them to your tracks.
5. **Fix album covers.** Search for artwork and apply it so your library looks consistent.

### Moving to Tulip

[Tulip](https://lonelyduck.io/tulip) looks after the library you keep in the Music app and changes nothing until you approve it, with undo for 30 days. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later, and it's free to browse and check your library. See the [Tulip guide](https://lonelyduck.io/docs/tulip).

## Tulip 1.0

Tulip 2 is a new app, rebuilt from the ground up, and it's in beta (2.0 beta 2). Tulip 1.0 is still the stable version, at [lonelyduck.io/download](https://lonelyduck.io/download).

**If you bought Tulip 1.0, you don't pay again.** Your Tulip 1.0 key works in Tulip 2 on up to 3 Macs, at no cost:

* On a Mac where Tulip 1.0 was activated, Tulip 2 finds the key Tulip 1.0 saved and offers **Upgrade for free** the first time it opens. macOS may ask you to allow Tulip to read it.
* On another Mac, paste the key from your Tulip 1.0 purchase email in Tulip 2's **Settings › License**. Tulip recognises the key by its last four characters: "Activating moves it to Tulip 2 Pro on 3 Macs, at no cost."

Tulip 2 never writes Tulip 1.0's files. To try it, download the beta from [lonelyduck.io/tulip](https://lonelyduck.io/tulip). The [Tulip guide](https://lonelyduck.io/docs/tulip) describes Tulip 2.

## Canto 0.10.3

Canto 0.10.3 is the stable release. Canto 1.0 is a rebuild that's in beta (1.0 beta 3), and [this guide](https://lonelyduck.io/docs/canto) describes 1.0.

* **Downloading 0.10.3**: [lonelyduck.io/download](https://lonelyduck.io/download), or "Prefer the stable release?" under the download button on [lonelyduck.io/canto](https://lonelyduck.io/canto).
* **Updates**: a copy of 0.10 never receives a beta. It keeps getting stable updates.
* **Your license**: a 0.x license works in 0.10.3. The first time Canto 1.0 reaches LonelyDuck, the license moves over to 1.0 by itself, covers 3 Macs, and includes 12 months of new Pro features. The license email for a new Canto Pro purchase also carries a key for Canto 0.10.

### Moving to Canto 1.0

The first time Canto 1.0 opens your vault, it updates your notes database and saves a copy from just before. Notebooks become notes, and a few features are gone. Read [Upgrading from Canto 0.10](https://lonelyduck.io/docs/canto/upgrade) before you install the beta, and keep a backup.

### Going back from 1.0 to 0.10.3

If the beta isn't for you, you can go back. In short: export what you wrote in the beta, quit Canto, put the copy Canto saved before the update (`Backups/pre-migration-v58-<date>.db` in your data folder) in place of `canto.db`, then install 0.10.3. [Going back to 0.10.3](https://lonelyduck.io/docs/canto/upgrade#going-back-to-0103) has every step, and what happens if you open 0.10.3 without restoring the copy.
