Memory Links

Memory Links helps Canto connect your notes semantically so old ideas become searchable by meaning, not just keywords.

Applies to: 0.1.0-beta.1Last updated: February 2026

What You Can Do

  • See related notes while reading or writing.
  • Jump quickly to older but relevant context.
  • Reduce manual organization overhead while still preserving discoverability.

How to Use It Well

  1. Write notes with clear nouns (projects, people, themes).
  2. Open related-note suggestions and follow one relevant link every session.
  3. Use wiki links for explicit relationships and let Memory Links infer the rest.
  4. Review edge cases weekly and rename vague notes to improve future recall.

Common Misunderstandings

  • It does not replace folder/tag hygiene entirely. Use both explicit and semantic structure.
  • Results improve as your note base grows and becomes more specific.
  • If links feel stale, review Troubleshooting → Memory and performance.
